Home remedies for nausea. It is a really uncomfortable situation to be in, specially in public places. You are always feeling like you are going to vomit. Nausea is very common and it is generally a symptoms of many diseases and syndromes. However, one can try many home remedies for nausea to get over this troubling feeling and relax.

Nausea can be relieved considerably by numerous home remedies. These are however not the only remedies for it. You can devise your own remedies for nausea. It all depends on what foods calm your nausea.

Personally, when I feel nauseous, I drink ginger tea. It is by far the most effective remedy for nausea. However, not all the times do I get ginger tea , like when I am travelling. That is why I keep cardamoms. Eating a few cardamoms quickly curbs a vomiting urge. It is a simple remedy, but 100 % effective.

The best home remedies for nausea 

1. Eat lime 
This is a time tested remedy for nausea. It is particularly used for seasickness and has been used since ages by sailors. It really helps to get over the strange feeling of seasickness. Just chomp on limes and you will definitely feel better.
Limes are good for people of all ages. You can also use lime zest in your food to ease nausea.

2. Eat other citrus fruits 
Other fruits like lemon and sour fruits like pineapple also help when you are nauseating. So chomp on clementines, tangerines, oranges, lemons and grapefruits. They are all great for nausea.

3. Eat crackers and drink a carbonated beverage
 Sit down or lie down, as you like and then eat salted crackers. Along with it, drink a carbonated drink. This remedy works almost every time and can give considerable relief for some time. And nobody would even get a hint that you are having nausea.
Try to eat the best tasting crackers. They provide the most relief. Personally, I like them flavored with a little sea salt. It tastes much better than ordinary crackers flavored with regular salt.

4. Ginger tea and other ginger products
This is one of the best remedies for nausea. It is common in USA and Canada to drink ginger ale before flights. That prevents nausea that comes from flights. There are many ways in which one can use ginger for nausea.

5. Apple Cider Vinegar 
ACV is also a wonderful remedy for nausea, even though it may taste awful. It improves digestive functioning. And you may be feeling hungry instead of nauseating after a gulp of ACV. Apple Cider Vinegar stimulates production of digestive juices in the stomach which results in better appetite and improved digestion.


6. Peppermint tea 
This too is a fine remedy for nausea. Get some peppermint tea bags and make tea with it. Or, if you have peppermint in your garden, make tea using fresh leaves of it. It has a remarkable cooling effect on the system, balancing out the issue that is creating the nausea. 


7. Lemon grass tea 
Lemon grass is a herb that has a lemon like flavor. It has really long and thin leaves which can be plucked, crushed and directly added to any tea. This tea is really more delicious than most other teas and it curbs nausea.

8. Eat a cool papaya
Cool papaya tastes much better and its taste delights the taste buds. However this may not work for everyone. Here is my way of eating a frozen papaya, which is excellent for nausea. It really makes your stomach feel much better.

9. A Sherbet 
This is a drink that has its origins in Asia. Sherbet today, comes in a powder which is added to a glass of water and can be taken to cool off your body. Traditional sherbet, or "sharbat" as it is called is prepared from rose water and numerous other ingredients. It is a sweet liquid and it tastes awesome. Drinking a glass of sherbet is sure to cool off your urge to vomit.


10. Dill Pickle Juice
This is an ace remedy for nausea for some people. Those who get relief almost get it immediately. And the relief is generally long lasting. Drinking some pickle juice helps calm nausea.
Why it works ?
Pickle juice probably works because of its taste and a therapeutic effect. It has got electrolytes that relieve muscle cramps and indigestion. Most pickle juices would work, but the most powerful ones are Dill pickle juice and Ginger pickle juice ( Gari that comes with sushi ).



11. Get Some Fresh Air
Wind has a healing effect. It can calm your nausea to a considerable extent. When you feel nauseous, please get rid of stale air in the room. If that doesn't work, try moving outside, especially on higher ground, like on roof to get better air.

12. Toast And Milk
This is a well renowned home remedy for nausea. Prepare toasts and warm some milk, the best tasting one. Personally, I like cardamom flavored milk. Eat those toasts slowly with milk, munching and enjoying the taste. It should provide relief from nausea.


13. Some champion fast foods also help with nausea
These are some of the best foods that kick nausea out of the park.
 The natural mechanism of relishing something to eat and actually eating a delicious thing can really help with nausea. So, if you have been longing to eat some dessert, then go get it. 

14. Cinnamon Tea
Drinking cinnamon tea is a power remedy for nausea. Make it as sweet as you want and then drink it slightly warm. Cinnamon is one of the few things that are known to be effective for nausea, others being ginger and peppermint. These things were even known to people of ancient civilizations.

15. Acupressure : Press Your "Inner Gate Point"
Acupressure is the art of stimulating certain points of the body to produce certain effect. Inner gate points is located on the left hand, some three fingers down the palm right between the two tendons. Press it firmly for a few seconds, and see if it vanishes the nausea. This is a subtle science, so it may work or not.

Find the real cause of Nausea : Since it is the symptoms of more than 500 different conditions, one should find out what is behind the nausea. Then, one can take medication or home remedies for that condition. This really takes care of chronic nausea. 

Other seemingly trivial home remedies for nausea are : 
  • Apply a warm pad on the stomach. 
  • Splash really cold water on the face but avoid the throat. 
A remedy for nausea from India is to use mango pickle with food or eat an unripe mango. It is really sour. Another one is to take some coriander leaves.

In UK, raspberry leaves are taken directly to reduce nausea sensation. Chamomile tea is the Native American remedy against nausea.

What to do for chronic nausea ?
There are many causes of chronic nausea. It can be eliminated by finding the root cause of it.

  • Vitamin B6 Deficiency : There is some indication that vitamin B 6 deficiency can bring on nausea. So, make sure you eat foods that are rich in Vitamin B 6 on a regular basis. 
  • Chronic Indigestion is also a cause of nausea in some people. Ginger is the best remedy for indigestion. So, make sure you keep drinking ginger tea whenever you feel like to. 
  • Nausea can also be brought on by consistent stress, sunken heart, depression and anxiety. This kind of nausea reduces when the stress comes down.
