Kidney stone symptoms ( Signs you got a stone stuck in )
Usually, it is not easy to figure out that you may be having kidney stone. The symptoms are not evident early. One of the first symptoms of kidney stones is difficulty in passing urine, especially when you are dehydrated. Within a few days, pain starts to show up in the flank region and the lower back. If the kidney stone has passed down the urinary tract, pain intensifies. And then suddenly, one day the body causes the most unbearable pain of all - the Renal Colic. This pain is characteristic of kidney stones.

Renal Colic - The Kidney Stones Pain
A deep excruciating pain occurs in the flank to groin region of the body. It is intermittent, that is it comes and goes, intensifying and attenuating in cycles. Each pain cycle usually lasts a few minutes. Then you get some relief from the pain for a few minutes to a few hours. However, the pain is so intense, it leaves the person exhausted from it.

Other symptoms which may come with kidney stones are blood in urine ( usually caused by the painful edges of the stone scraping the sensitive wall), nausea, vomiting and feeling of unease.

Kidney stones can be relieved by eating foods or taking drinks which erode the stone and make it smaller and smaller to pass. Diuretic foods help to increase urine production to help throw out the stone. You may experience pain while using the home remedies, but they work most of the times.

Home remedies may not be able to get rid of stones that are very big and need surgical intervention.

Chance Piedra is by far the most popular herb in the entire world for kidney stones. It's name literally translates to Stone Breaker.

My story
I have had a very fruitful experience with this herb, worth sharing. My friend once got a kidney stone on his routine ultrasound check up. It was about 3mm stone. During our research, we had come across this herb, and it grows wild in the nursery. So, we went there and the gardener handed us a fistful of chanca piedra. We took it back, washed it, dried it in sun and stored it. A few days later, I prepared a herbal tea for my friend. I used about 2 tablespoon of dried herb in about 400 ml water, boiled it down to 100 ml to make a really strong herbal tea.
My friend drank this tea, and some water on top of it. Late at night, some 5 hours after drinking this, he experienced a sharp pain in the groin. He could barely manage to reach the toilet. When he came out, he was immensely relieved. We figured that perhaps the kidney stone passed, although he mentioned that he hadn't seen anything.
No pain the next day. In a few days, he went for another ultrasound and the report stated "no kidney stone". It was a moment of joy and realization that herbs are immensely powerful.

Chanca piedra can be taken as a herbal tea, 1 - 2 times a day. It can break a kidney stone much quicker then other remedies. However, there are some minor side effects.

Kidney stones are relatively easy to get rid of , given the fact that the pain they cause is very intense. These remedies should be able to leach out most of the kidney stones. However, all kidney stones are not the same. They can be different.

How do you get kidney stones ?

These are caused by crystallization of minerals in the urine. Most of us know that calcium has the tendency to crystallize in presence of oxalate to form calcium oxalate stones. But there are kidney stones made of sodium, uric acid, struvite and many others. Each kind of stone requires a specific pH environment to form. However, the main reason for crsytallization and kidney stone formation is probably lack of water or dehydration. This prompts minerals in solution to precipitate out as solids.

So, the key to preventing kidney stones formation may be as simple as drinking more water. Better kidney functioning is also helpful.

The Kidney Stone Diet
There is nothing like this. Only a few foods are considered to make you suscpetible to form kidney stones. However, this is not a general rule which applies to everyone. One person may develop stones from a food, while another may not.

Foods to avoid
  • Boiled spinach has high amounts of oxalate. Eat fresh spinach instead. Or add lemon juice to counter oxalates in the kidneys.
  • Non fermented soy products may have a tendency to trigger kidney stones.
  • High fructose and even coke can cause kidney stones if taken for long periods of time. Coke helps dissolves stones in the short period. However, if you drink this regularly, the fructose in it becomes too much for kidneys to handle.

Lemons
Other citrus fruits
