Colon cleanse home remedy. Occasional cleansing of the large intestine can be done to promote better health. Colon cleanse can be done easily with natural things, like fruits, vegetables and healthy oils. These are some methods that one can apply.

What is a colon cleanse ?
Before we begin with home based colon cleansing, lets get some facts straight.
Colon cleansing should not be done using store bought laxatives. These products just force our body to defecate, which is harmful.

1. Guava with its seeds
The seeds of guava act as abrasives. When one eats a few ripe guavas, the seeds and the bulk of guava gently brushes the intestine and cleanses it brilliantly.







2. Grapes 
Consumption of a good amount of grapes on an empty stomach is a good way to cleanse the colon. In some people, it may cause mild diarrhea. But it can help with cleansing and supporting the colon.
Grapes are good for colon cleansing. If done during a fast, it seems to provide significant health benefits. They displace toxins from the colon and eliminate them from the body.






3. Flaxseeds ( in a smoothie )
One of the best natural ingredients for colon cleansing are flaxseed. They are excellent source of dietary fiber. 100 grams of flaxseeds provide 27 grams of dietary fiber, which is half the daily fiber requirement. That is what makes them great for colon cleansing.

Eat about 100 grams of flaxseeds after soaking them in water overnight. It really brings out the flavor in them, although many may not like it.

If you are one of those who do not like to eat flaxseed straight, then they can be taken in a smoothie.






4. Fig in milk 
This combination is a mild laxative and promotes smooth bowel movement daily. Eat 4 - 5 dried fig pieces along with 1 glass of any type of milk that you like. It need not be dairy if you are lactose intolerant. Next morning, bowel movement should be much better.





5. Beetroot juice
Drinking beet root juice is a natural liver flush and also cleanses the bowels. It acts quite quickly. Just drink 2 glasses of beet juice and see the results. It is so powerful that it may stain your stool red, so don't be alarmed by that. Beet root juice is an excellent liver flush and a colon cleanser.




6. Other foods rich in dietary fiber
Fiber rich foods like rice bran, mango and whole wheat bread are also good for colon cleanse. Other foods rich in dietary fiber.

Corn bran
Raw broccoli
Berries
Celery
Mushrooms
Any seeds

It is not that one sticks to a single food for colon cleanse. The whole idea is that diet should be comprised more of such foods.

10. Apple Juice
One of the best things for our colon is the apple. It has been identified in research studies to prevent the risk of colon cancer.

The husk of psyllium is excellent for colon cleansing. But, it should be taken with caution.






12. Aloe Vera juice
The juice of Aloe Vera is edible and excellent for colon health. Some people may be allergic to aloe Vera juice, and they should avoid it. Rest are just fine. Aloe Vera has been prescribed for colon complaints since ancient times. And it is super nutritious.

Drink about 1 glass of aloe Vera juice at an empty stomach. Aloe Vera juice can be obtained from a health food store. It can be prepared at home using a juicer, although that needs some processing with the leaves.

Aloe Vera has a brilliant composition of amino acids in good concentration. Some of them have really very few sources in diet.




13. Turnip Juice
The juice of turnip is a very powerful colon cleanser. It is pungent, sharp and can be really strong for someone taking it for the first time. However, once you have taken it a few times, it works great for colon cleansing.

Drink 1/2 glass of turnip juice. You may feel a little dizzy because of the liver flushing activity, which gets over in a few minutes.



14. Ginger 
The common spice ginger assists in cleansing of upper and lower gastrointestinal tract. The best way to use ginger is in the form of ginger ale. This is ginger in carbonated form, which eliminates indigestion and also performs some cleansing of the colon and ileum ( small intestine )

Drink about 500 ml ginger ale for a colon cleanse.




15. Ayurvedic remedy for colon cleanse : Triphala
It is an ancient formulation which is used to maintain digestive health and intestinal health. It is a powder made up of three fruits. It assists the colon in cleansing itself and a complete bowel movement.
These three fruits are -

When the powders of these three fruits are mixed, it results in Triphala ( Tri - three, phala - fruits ). They have been noted in Ayurveda to be used for purging of the lower gastrointestinal tract ( what we know as colon )

Fortunately, it is a very popular Ayurvedic product and is easily available. 




16. Almond milk 
Drink a cup of warm almond milk with cinnamon as sweetener. One can also add crushed and ground almonds and other nuts to this milk. Drink it anytime during the day. It is great for all, particularly for those who are allergic to lactose in milk. 



Healthy fats obtained by eating fish, like cod, sardines, anchovies and salmon are excellent for the health of the body. These nutrients also promote a healthier colon. People who are vegetarian or unable to digest meat properly can take flax seed as the best alternative for this. 

Herbal colon cleanse : There are some herbs which are used for colon cleansing. However, they are not proved to assist in colon cleansing. On the other hand, they can be harmful if taken without recommendation from doctor or a registered herbal practitioner. One should therefore avoid using herbs for colon cleanse.There are herbs like Senna that are powerful natural laxatives, and should only be taken under supervision of a trained herbalist. Laxative herbs can have serious side effects. 


Colon hydrotherapy 
This is a technique that is performed using clean water ( or any liquid based colon flushing agent ) and introducing it into the colon. This is usually required for people whose colon is weak or unable to cleanse itself mainly due to constipation. This is also done at colon hydrotherapy centers and is known as colonic irrigation.

Colon hydrotherapy is generally not required, as the home remedies mentioned above are quite powerful. They flush and cleanse the colon brilliantly. Some of the remedies, like cabbage juice and other juices like prunes are effective at eliminating impacted colon condition. They are so powerful.

However, colon hydrotherapy can have its health benefits if there is need and if it is performed correctly. The main issues where people make mistakes are the fluid pressure, the concentration of liquid and how to use it.

Coffee enemas have a colon cleansing and liver flush effect. A coffee enema is by far the most popular colon cleanse using colonic irrigation.
